FAQ

BASTET & BEE

What is bastet & bee?

Bastet & Bee is a French-British brand that designs, manufactures and distributes notebooks for the office, school desk and home. The whole range is printed in France, locally, on paper chosen with care and respect for the environment.

Does bastet & bee mean anything?

The name comes from the company’s mascots: Bast, the Egyptian Goddess and the bee. Bastet is a symbol for creative courage and bee for commitment.  We strive to seed a brand new mindset with our brand—one that enables people to commit to the work that matters to them the most while contributing to their community and the environment.

What does the logo represent?

The logotype in lowercase and outside the box reflects how we perceive ourselves. The logomark represents our true unlimited potential that is inside each and everyone of us. The yellow dot symbolises a  dormant seed. That little creative light of ours we’ve got to let it shine. Eventually it will light the way for others.

We love the new face of Bastet, who is the artist?

Pretty amazing, right? The artist is George Mayer, member of the Russian Union of Art Photographers.

Notepads

Where and how does bastet & bee produce its notepads?

All our notebooks are designed by Bastet & Bee in France and printed locally in Bourges, France. Smaller editions are handcrafted as much as possible.

Do you offer different designs?

We are just getting started and the d-bloc 18 collection is only available in 6 designs and in A5. We will be able to offer more choice with our trademark colour scheme: yellow, black and white. To learn about new products, before we make them available to the general public, please join our email list here and you will be set.

Are all the pages made of thick and durable paper?

Yes. We use Swedish Premium Munken paper for the d-bloc 18 collection. The pages are made of 80g uncoated paper, which gives the surface a pleasant feel. The show-through is minimal, no problem writing on the backside of the page with a fountain pen.

Is FSC Certified paper just as eco-friendly as recycled paper?

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, an organisation that works to promote the practice of sustainable forestry worldwide. Our paper is also PEFC certified and EU Ecolabelled. We only work with manufacturers who seek out wood suppliers that protect habitat, prevent pollution, plant more trees than are harvested and avoid displacing native peoples and harming wildlife.

How is the d-bloc 18 different from other notepads?

Do we need another notepad? Yes, we believe we do but a completely different one. A one-size-fits-all linear approach to note-taking does not work for real people with real problems and who wish to get stuff done in the real world. Our unique layouts are carefully designed to be flexible, functional and fun to match all productivity styles, whether you’re a visualiser, an arranger, a prioritiser, a planner or a dreamer.

Do you offer a free PDF of d-bloc 18?

We certainly do! To help you decide whether our notepad is the right fit for you, please use the contact form to request a free PDF. You can also join the conversation #dbloc18 and share your experience with us.

***please note that the PDF is under copyright and is meant for your personal use only***
