What is bastet & bee?

We are a brand focused on creating well-crafted and sustainably made tools and goods to coax closet creatives to come out and play. Read the full story here.

Does bastet & bee mean anything?

The name comes from the company’s mascots: Bast, the Egyptian Goddess and the bee. Bastet is a symbol for creative courage and bee for commitment.  We strive to seed a brand new mindset with our brand—one that enables people to commit to the work that matters to them the most while contributing to their community and the environment.

What does the logo represent?

The logotype in lowercase and outside the box reflects how we perceive ourselves. The logomark represents our true unlimited potential that is inside each and everyone of us. The yellow dot symbolises a  dormant seed. That little creative light of ours we’ve got to let it shine. Eventually it will light the way for others.

We love the new face of Bastet, who is the artist?

Pretty amazing, right? The artist is George Mayer, member of the Russian Union of Art Photographers.

Where and how does bastet & bee produce its notebooks?

All our notebooks are designed by bastet & bee in France and manufactured in Germany by brandbook. Smaller editions are handcrafted as much as possible. For larger editions, special machines are put to use for folding, stitching, book covering and book binding.

What type of printing process is used on the cover?

Our entire collection is silkscreened to achieve the richest and brightest colour results. Blind debossing is and will continue to be our favourite for the logo. It is unobtrusive, of high quality and pleasant to the touch.

Do you offer different colours?

We are just getting started and the big stuff collection is only available in black cover. We will be able to offer more choice from our other trademark colours: yellow or white. To learn about new products, before we make them available to the general public, please join our email list here and you will be set.

Is the cover made of real leather?

Our material of choice for silkscreen printing is smooth bonded leather. While it can be compared to real leather for its soft texture and high durability, it is eco-friendly. Smooth bonded leather stands for a conscious use of resources because it is made from leftover scraps. It is exclusively produced and dyed for us in Italy while adhering to the highest environmental standards.

Are all the pages made of thick and durable paper?

Yes. We use Swedish Premium Munken paper for the big stuff collection. The pages are made of 120g uncoated paper, which gives the surface a pleasant feel. The show-through is minimal, no problem writing on the backside of the page with a fountain pen. And because every single layer of the notebook are sewn to one another, it is impossible for the paper to fall out.

Is FSC Certified paper just as eco-friendly as recycled paper?

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, an organisation that works to promote the practice of sustainable forestry worldwide. Our paper is also PEFC certified and EU Ecolabelled. We only work with manufacturers who seek out wood suppliers that protect habitat, prevent pollution, plant more trees than are harvested and avoid displacing native peoples and harming wildlife.

How is the big stuff planner different from other planners?

Do we need another planner? Yes, we believe we do but a completely different one. A one-size-fits-all approach to time management does not work for real people with real problems and who wish to get stuff done in the real world. Our unique layouts are carefully designed to be flexible, functional and fun to match all productivity styles, whether you’re a visualiser, an arranger, a prioritiser and/or a planner.

Do you offer a free PDF of the big stuff weekly planner?

We certainly do! To help you decide whether our planner is the right fit for your big stuff, please use the contact form to request a free PDF. You can also join the conversation #showmeyourbigstuff and share your experience with us.

***please note that the PDF is under copyright and is meant for your personal use only***

Do the big stuff notebooks come with various paper types?

For the launch, we are starting small. In addition to the big stuff planner, we will be only releasing the big stuff dot dot dot as the first notebook of the collection with a dotted grid. However, we are all about growth. With the support from our fans, we will soon not only be able to offer more basic grids (from lined to just blank) but also special and signature grids. Please subscribe to our mailing list here if you wish to learn about the new products before we release them to the general public.

When will your t-shirts be ready for purchase?

Our SHOP will launch late 2016. And the tees will be available by early February. Email us at bonjour@bastetandbee.com for any further queries regarding this.

What brands do you print on?

All bastet&bee standard t-shirts are printed on Stanley & Stella blanks who only work with eco-friendly materials. Our apparel is therefore made of 100% certified pure organic cotton or blended with fabrics like Tencel® or Lenzing® Modal.

How do I know what size shirt to order?

Each product page has links to sizing charts. Refer to these charts and any special instructions given per product.

I ordered two shirts of the same size, why is one smaller?

Some of the designs are printed on different style shirts. Check the product description for any special sizing notes.

How should I care for my organic cotton shirts? Will they shrink?

The best way to care for your shirts is to turn them inside out and machine or hand wash them in cold or warm water. Don’t worry about shrinkage. Order your correct size-there is no need to “buy big”. That being said, be careful how you dry your organic cotton t-shirt. Hang to dry or if using a drier, use Air cycle, no heat.

What type of printing process is used on your apparel?

All of our shirts are screenprinted. Most of the shirts are printed with water-based or discharge ink which leaves an extremely soft print. A few of the shirts use soft hand plastisol in order to get a bright white print. Check the product pages for the specific type of printing for each individual product.

Will the printing fade?

Because we choose to use soft water-based inks, some of the prints are not hot water safe.

Tip to get the longer lasting shirt: be sure to turn it inside out for the first few washes in cold or warm water. Iron your shirt gently or steam if desired. This will help you lock in the colours for years.

Where are your shirts manufactured and printed?

We partner with Stanley & Stella dealers in Europe.

Will you notify me when you release a new design or restock a current design?

Of course. Subscribe to the bastet&bee newsletter, follow us on twitter, or keep tabs on the big stuff. We post updates about our products as well as tips and tools and a little bold talk.
